Dear readers, authors, members of the Scientific and Editorial Boards:

Another issue is published with great enthusiasm in the midst of the 21st century’s pandemic. It is imperative, prior to introducing the new issue and expressing my gratitude, to wish you all my best desires of health. In a very similar way to the previous number, I would like to allude to how the number 6 of Verbeia has been forged and has come to light as a result of a new way of life. We continue living in an anomalous situation caused by social isolation, and even if we are now more used to it, we are not less heartbroken for that. However, since late 2020, our hope grew when we heard the news of the approval of the first vaccine against COVID-19, an event that raised the hope of escaping from confinement and saving lives. Yes, it was a halo of life that science gives us and reassures us. That is why today I introduce this new issue of Verbeia with some relief and with the desire to continue working on many other issues full of enthusiasm and hope, and to continue a work that fills us with joy and satisfaction. This number is another example of the diverse research of Verbeia; a sample of a trajectory that has given us many satisfactions and is part of our identity, and that, as we have been doing in previous issues from different perspectives, research is fostered through different literary genres such as gothic or gender literature and poetry, journalistic and linguistic essays. Manuscripts that, like a palliative injection of the new vaccine, fill us with hopes and new expectations and lead us to take another promising step to move forward with other issues to come. With these "Preliminary Words" I want to thank everyone that Verbeia has become our hopeful reality. Once again, many thanks to all of you who make Verbeia possible.

Isabel Morales Jareño. Co-editor and Secretary of Verbeia.
