Abstract

The field of Strategic Management has assumed in the last decades the importance of managers in the explanation of firm strategic behaviour. This assumption has favoured the development of several lines of research, such as the managerial cognition and “Upper-Echelons” perspectives, which have focused on analysing the rational, although bounded, component of managers. However, they have traditionally ignored, although with some exceptions, a factor that has been traditionally considered as irrational: their emotions. In this sense, our research is an attempt to advance in this concern and to discover if the emotions of CEOs of the banking industry do influence on their strategies.
