Abstract

The recent instability of the main European stock markets has lead investors to consider other markets in which to invest like the Latin American ones or those in Eastern Europe. However, many investors overlook the Portuguese stock market which offers an interesting alternative because of its greater transparency and security compared to the emerging markets. Furthermore, it forms part of the largest European stock-exchange platform (NYSE Euronext) and its macroeconomic and stock-exchange data indicate a strong potential for growth.
