The banking consolidation process in Europe: The Santander case

Abstract

The acquisition of Abbey National by Santander Group, at the moment the hugest transnational operation in Europe, has been possible thanks to the robustness of its business model, and thanks to the experiencegained during the last years in its internationalization process. The goal: to transform Abbey into one of the best and more efficient Britannic banks.
