Abstract

The Kyoto Protocol and the European Directive on Emissions Trading are of utmost relevance to theEuropean political and business leaders due to the major implications they have on countries' andcompanies' competitiveness as well as on the environment. However, there is a series of deeply rooted myths and beliefs that should be clarified so that decision making in relation with this issue is as much positive as possible for the environment and the economic development.
