Abstract

Angelina Gatell (1926-2017) belongs to the generation of poets of the Spanish post-war period, she belongs to the social and testimonial poetics. Her first stage took place in the fifties and sixties. The second stage begins thirty years later, after a long editorial silence, when he reappears with new poetic proposals. This article, focused on the first stage of her poetry, analyzes the construction of a female poetic subject in her first books, some of them unpublished, but currently in the process of publication. The construction of the lyrical subject in Angelina Gatell's poetry begins with her self-affirmation as a poet. The assumption of this female subject also occurs in the work of the poets of her time, especially in those with whom she interacted, such as Carmen Conde, Maria Beneyto and Ángela Figuera, whose work has been analyzed by recent critics (Sharon K. Ugalde, Maria Payeras, Mónica Jato).
