About the Journal
ABOUT
Aims and scope
Verbeia is an international academic open-access journal dealing with two philological fields. On one hand, its scope covers the different fields of literary research both in Hispanic Studies (Spanish and Latin-American) and English-Speaking studies. And, on the other hand, it covers the different fields of linguistic research. Verbeia accepts contributions within the Didactics of Language and Literature.
Verbeia is an annual publication of book reviews, articles and unpublished papers and essays on themes concerned about Spanish and English studies. The number of articles or essays to be published per issue will range from 5 to 9. The number of reviews will be a maximum of 2. Both English and Spanish language can be used. The date for publication is April. Annually, with an interval of six months from the publication of the corresponding Issue of the Journal, that is, in October, Verbeia publishes a Monograph, directed by a Guest Editor or a member of the Editorial Board, this special issue is published in digital and printed edition.
Verbeia is composed of an Editorial Team, a Scientific Board and External evaluators. Both boards consist of teachers and renown researchers specialised in areas related to Spanish and English studies who come from national and international institutions. They are generously collaborating in Verbeia mainly as referees in order to evaluate all papers submitted to the journal’s editorial board.
For publication in both the Annual Issue and the Special Issues, the manuscripts submitted for publication will be original and unpublished. Submitted articles and reviews will be anonymously peer reviewed.
BRIEF REVIEW
It was first proposed in 2013 by the present director and editor, Sonia Sánchez Martínez, who, in a meeting with the research group (GRIMM) she belongs to, put forward the plan to create a Journal of Philological Studies in the University. Cristina Calle, Emilio Cañadas and Isabel Morales have given shape to the journal and now it has become consolidated. The boards were then constituted, the policy was set and the necessary permissions and licenses were requested. Afterwards, in 2015, the first publication of Verbeia, Issue No. 0 was released containing contributions of the Scientific and Editorial Board. We have been in Open Access, in OJS, since 2020.
